Career Specialist Teacher since 2011

Career Specialist Teacher Policy

provides the high quality of career guidance, counseling and information to students. Based on the Career Education Act,
school must have one career specialist teacher at every elementary and secondary school.

Article 9 (Teachers Exclusively Responsible for Coaching Careers) (1) The Minister of Education and a superintendent of education shall assign to elementary and secondary schools, teachers exclusively responsible for career coaching for students.


Enforcement Decree of the Career Education Act Article 4 (Career Specialized Teacher)(1) The course designated by the Ministry of Education in the secondary school is marked as a subject course in accordance with Article 4 of the "Teacher Qualification Guideline." The teacher should be placed as a teacher who has a certified teaching certificate.

The career specialist teacher is allocated to every each school after receiving a 570 hours of in-service training program. The teacher who has obtained the qualification of the career specialist teacher can lead the comprehensive career guidance service to students, parents, and other fellow teachers at the school.

In 2016, the allocation ratio of career specialist teacher in elementary & secondary school is 97.5%, which allows students to receive career development support by advanced specialized teachers.

In 2016, the placement of career specialist teachers extends from middle and high schools to elementary schools.

Duties of the career specialist teacher in secondary school (middle/high)

  1. 1. Head of school career education as director of career guidance consultation
  2. 2. Establishment and operation of school career course operation plan - Support for career education intensive grade · semester system and Organization
        and operation of career experience curriculum
  3. 3. “Career and Job" class, "career activity" guidance (less than 10 hours per week) during creative experience activity
  4. 4. Career consultation (more than 8 hours per week on average)
  5. 5. Planning and operation of career activity during creative experience activity
  6. 6. Personalized career (job & school path) guidance at the school level- Personalized career guidance based on linkage among school life records &
        information of elementary, middle and high school level
  7. 7. Support on career design for students entering post-employment
  8. 8. Support for writing the career and learning plan
  9. 9. Career portfolio map
  10. 10. Utilization and consulting of psychological examination related to career education (on CareerNet or others)
  11. 11. Planning and operation of career exploration activities in & out of school
  12. 12. ‘Strengthening career education capacity for in-school teachers Training’ management
  13. 13. Career training and consulting for parents
  14. 14. Network management with local community and related organizations such as talent donation for career education
  15. 15. Other career-related matters designated by the school principal
